Just started reading Helen Macdonald's H is for Hawk. I saw an interview with Macdonald where she professed her love for field guides (bird books, mushroom books, tree books) and I was hooked. The book is about grieving -- MacDonald trains a goshawk partially to cope with the loss of her father. But it's also about falconry of course and loads of other things. Much of it is about T.H. White, fellow birder and writer of Arthurian romances. Will have to track down a copy of The Once and Future King.
